GRPA Members,

The Board of Trustees met to finalize the following statement regarding recent events across the country:

The Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) reaffirms that we stand in solidarity against racism and social injustice with everyone across the country engaged in the fight for a more just and equitable society.  As GRPA agencies stand at the forefront serving Georgia’s communities through programs and parks, individually and collectively, recognizing diversity, inclusion, racial equity, and social equality, what we do has never been more important.  We recognize there is much work to be done and are committed to being an ally to those who work toward meaningful change.  In the coming weeks and months GRPA will be creating a task force to take a systematic approach to addressing the matters at hand through open and candid dialog.  Throughout this process, it is our fervent hope that each of us will demonstrate our commitment to justice by practicing acts of awareness, kindness, love and understanding toward each other as we listen thoughtfully and dialogue constructively.
